Home is a soundscape created for the ‘Home’ exhibit at the Webster University Gallery in The Netherlands, within the framework of The Big Draw Leiden 2014 (13-28 September). Here, the conflation of familiar sounds from seemingly disconnected locales brings to the fore the contradictions of ‘being-there’ as a mode of engaging with the world: are we where our body is or where our consciousness dwells? Is absence a mode of presence? Are we ever at home? With the participation of Cary Jacobs, Taya Poplin-Redhouse and Markus Fliege, students of the Audio Production class at Webster University Leiden (which I had the fortune to teach).
